Research at
the Krefting Research Centre

The research at KRC is driven by the desire to improve the health, well being and treatment of asthma patients, with short and long term goals in place to achieve this. It is becoming increasingly clear that asthma is more than just one disease, it has different underlying causes. To understand the mechanistic differences between these different types of asthma, and to ultimately find better treatments, patients with various types of asthma will be characterised with the highest scientific accuracy.
The main strategic direction for KRC, therefore, is to characterise these different types of asthma with a high degree of detail. This will be achieved in several steps within a long term project, in which a population based survey is being used to build a database. The first part of the project, called the West Sweden Asthma Study, is complete and is now being followed up with a detailed clinical examination of both healthy and asthmatic patients.

This page is under construction, but we have more projects running. Please contact us to learn more about our research.
